Login to the AWS Management console and navigate to EC2 dashboard. Choose ‘Volumes’ under ‘Elastic Block Store’ on the left pane. Select the volume and expand the ‘Actions’ menu. Choose ‘Create Snapshot’.
On the next screen, enter a value for Description and optionally add a Name tag to the volume to uniquely identify. Choose ‘Create Snapshot’.
You will see the below confirmation message. Choose the snapshot id to view the progress of the snapshot creation.
Once the status of snapshot changes to ‘completed’ you may use the snapshot.
