How to purge messages from an SQS queue from AWS Management Console

Login to the AWS Management Console and navigate to ‘Simple Queue Service’ SQS. on the SQS dashboard, select the queue that you would like to purge and choose ‘Purge’ on the top.

Confirm the action by typing ‘purge’ in the next screen and choose ‘Purge’.

You’ll see the confirmation message that the queue has been purged as shown below. Although the queue has been purged, the ‘messages available’ count doesn’t reflect it immediately. You need to refresh the page to see the updated message count.


Once refreshed, you will see the ‘messages available’ count as zero.
