How to encrypt the snapshot of an EBS volume

Login to the AWS Management console and navigate to EC2 dashboard. Choose ‘Snapshots’ under ‘Elastic Block Store’ on the left pane. Select the snapshot that you would like to encrypt and right click on it to view the actions menu. Choose ‘Copy’.

In the ‘Copy Snapshot’ window, choose the destination region where you would like to copy the snapshot to fill in the description. Enable ‘Encryption’ and choose the Master Key if using a different key other than the default master key.

Choose ‘Copy’ to create an encrypted copy of the snapshot.

On the snapshots page, you will see the new created Encrypted snapshot. Snapshot is ready for usage once the status changes to ‘completed’.
